Happy Birthday To Government Laboratory High School, Dhaka!

School Monogram

"Alo Aro Alo" (আলো আরো আলো) which means Light More Light. Motto of Government Laboratory High School, Dhaka, The best school of Bangladesh since 1961. Today is the 49th Birthday of this famous school.

A quote from the holy Qur'an 'Nurun Ala Noor' meaning 'Light More Light' is the motto of the school. The motto is also used in the monogram. But some others say that the motto is taken from the quote of legendary German litterateur Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The designer of the school monogram is the great artist 'Shilpachrya' Zainul Abedin'.

Government Laboratory High School is located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is near to Dhaka New Market & Another one of the Best institute of Bangladesh, Dhaka College. One of the main reasons for establishing Government Laboratory High School was to assist trainees of the Teacher's Training College to practice teaching. The driving force behind organizing this school was Muhammad Osman Gani, the then principal of the Teacher's Training College. The school was inaugurated by Muhammad Shamsul Haque, the then Director of the Department of Public Education. The first headmaster of the school was Khan Muhammad Salek, taking office in 1961 he served for a total of 12 years.

Here I must have to mention this two name because this two person, Muhammad Osman Gani & Khan Muhammad Salek contributed a lot to establish this legendary school which helped and still helping to give rise of so many legendary people. It was difficult for them to establish a Government School in Bangladesh because that time Bangladesh was a part of Pakistan and Pakistani rulers didn't want to keep Bangla as a official language in the country. But their hard work made it possible that time.

Result of SSC examination is always good in this school. Results of Primary & Junior Scholarship examinations are also good. This school gives birth of many legendary and famous people in every sector of the country.

One of the famous quote of the students & ex-students of this school is-"PROUD TO BE A LABORATORIAN!" And offcourse they should be!

The school was established in 3rd September, 1961. Since then, 3rd September is celebrated as the 'School Day'. The usual academic programs are put off this day. Various functions are organized in each of the sections. Students decorate their classes with balloons, posters, pictures, colorful papers etc. They also publish wall magazines which are adorned by the stories, poems and others things of their own. Teachers and guardians admire their works. Students sometimes give invitation letters to their teachers to visit their room. Sometimes birthday cake is cut celebrating the birthday of the school.
